EGS Help Squad

In-person help:
Eastside Genealogical Society (EGS) is here to help you with your family history journey. Our volunteers offer research assistance on a regular schedule. We are in the Bellevue Library ready to help on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month except when the library is closed. Visit the KCLS Calendar for current dates and times.

Virtual help:
We welcome questions about local genealogy resources from out-of-area genealogists or those who can’t travel to a KCLS library.

Volunteer researchers will respond to inquiries as quickly as possible.

For look-ups, non-members are asked to donate $10 for each name searched.

Genealogy Resources at the King County Library System (KCLS)

Reference Books

EGS proudly supports the Genealogy Reference Collection at the Bellevue Library. Each year, we select and donate books to strengthen this resource for the entire community. View the list of books donated by EGS.

You can explore the entire genealogy collection through the KCLS catalog at www.kcls.org. Many titles can be requested through Interlibrary Loan for use at your local KCLS library. Circulating books may be placed on hold and checked out.

Genealogy Databases

Library users have access to powerful online resources, including Ancestry Library Edition, offering census records, books, and a wealth of historical materials. Visit any KCLS branch to use these resources. Some are available from home with your KCLS library card.

A variety of newspapers and magazines are available digitally through the library website. Some are available for in-library use only.

Classes and Events at KCLS

EGS partners with KCLS to offer genealogy classes, workshops, and one-on-one help sessions. KCLS sponsors additional genealogy-related programs during the year. Visit KCLS’s web site to see what’s coming up.
